Sky Blue Sky by Wilco is one of my favorite records of 2007. It's the kind of album that you can just put on and listen all the way through. Like the kind that Cream and the Eagles made back in the 70s. Jeff Tweedy's voice sounds like a famillar old friend and the collection of songs is cohesive and moody. Nels Cline's guitar work is worth the price of the CD, he soars and sings with his fingers. In fact, Nels is an accomplished jazz player in his other life and his record New Monastary is a finalist in the 2007 Jazz Journalist Association's Album of the year.
I especially recommend you check out track one (Either Way) and track three (Impossible Germany).
If you haven't picked it up yet, add it to your instant classic collection of album rock and roll. Neil Young must be proud.
Tune in every weekend for a music recommendation.

YES! This has been playing on repeat for a month! I agree, "Impossible Germany" is definitely a stand-out track.
Also, at the risk of sounding like an ad, the new Ryan Adams CD is another of the best CD's of 2007.

You and I totally have the same music tastes.. I haven’t picked up this disc yet but I'll be sure to.

With the exception of your comments on "Either Way," I couldn't agree more. Just saw them in the pouring rain at Chastain Park in Atlanta. They were absolutely on fire.

Nels actually has a brand new record coming out this Tuesday June 26th also on Cryptogramophone (the label that issued New Monastery). It's with his band The Nels Cline Singers (which contains no actual singing). It's getting great reviews. Check out what the New York Times, Boston Globe, San Diego Union Tribune and Pittsburgh Post Gazette have to say:
